In the modern atelier of Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watches every watch is made with great care and love. The mechanical masterpieces, from the astonishing ‘CVDK Planetarium’ - with the smallest mechanical planetarium in the world - to the ‘CVDK Real Moon Joure’ - with the most accurate 3D moon phase in the world - are all designed and manufactured in the atelier of Christiaan van der Klaauw in Heerenveen - The Netherlands.
Officially listed on the ‘Haute Horlogerie’ White Paper list of the respected Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) in Switzerland. The FHH did research on 600 watch brands for 3 years - done by 46 experts - with 29 distinguishing criteria. The FHH finally presented a list of only 65 watch brands that can claim the respected term of ‘Haute Horlogerie’.
The main characteristic of the watches made by Christiaan van der Klaauw is the astronomical complication. Every watch has one or more complications that originate from astronomy. Our watchmakers turn complex astronomical complications into astonishing works of art.
All these beautiful timepieces are made with great attention for detail and only the finest and best materials are used for our collection. We produce in such small quantities per year that each watch can be seen as a limited edition. All watches are therefore numbered.
In 2014 we celebrated our 40-year anniversary. Until today, Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watches is the only atelier in the world that is completely devoted to the design and the production of exclusive, hand-made astronomical watches.
