CVDKVenus Annual Calendar

The CVDK Venus Annual Calendar combines an Annual Calendar with a mechanical representation of our celestial surroundings. At the centre of the matt white dial, Venus, Earth and the Moon move around the Sun in real time, while the outer calendar indication follows the days and individual lengths of the months. The composition is housed in a refined 38 mm stainless steel case.

Three celestial bodiesin motion

The Venus Annual Calendar brings the astronomical display into the centre of the dial. Four separate discs form the construction, three of which rotate to carry Venus, Earth and the Moon.

Their movements follow their real astronomical cycles: Venus completes its orbit around the Sun in 224.7 days, Earth in 365.2 days, while the Moon revolves around Earth in 27.3 days. Together they create a constantly changing mechanical representation of our immediate celestial surroundings.

Specifications

The Venus Annual Calendar combines hours and minutes with two interconnected complications. The central Planetarium displays the real-time positions of Venus, Earth and the Moon around the Sun, while the outer Annual Calendar indicates the date and individual lengths of the months.

Caseback

The Venus Annual Calendar is powered by the automatic CKM-01 Manufacture movement. It uses uni-directional winding, a free-sprung hairspring and variable-inertia balance, running at 21,600 vibrations per hour and providing a power reserve of up to 60 hours.

Venus Planetarium & Annual Calendar

At the centre of the dial, Venus, Earth and the Moon move through their real astronomical cycles. Venus completes one orbit around the Sun in 224.7 days, while Earth requires 365.2 days. The Moon revolves around Earth in 27.3 days, adding a third celestial movement to the mechanical Planetarium.

Surrounding the astronomical display is the Annual Calendar. Its black-and-white rail track is divided by month, with each section reflecting the individual length of that month. Both complications are integrated into a single dial, connecting the calendar we use on Earth to the astronomical cycles on which it is based.

Made in theCVDK atelier

Every Christiaan van der Klaauw watch is made by hand and subjected to extensive quality testing in the atelier. Each watch is delivered in a CVDK presentation box and covered by a three-year warranty on the movement and case. Watches from the Collection of Astronomical Masterpieces are also supplied with a removable Swiss Kubik watch winder to keep the astronomical complication running accurately.
