Orion Silver on the wrist: a silver dial around the blue rotating star map

Collection of the Stars - CKOR3326

CVDKOrion Silver

The CVDK Orion brings the night sky to the wrist through a rotating celestial map, or Planisphere. Completing one rotation in 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.0916 seconds, the display follows the stars and constellations visible across much of the northern hemisphere. This version combines the astronomical complication with a silver dial, blue details and a 40 mm stainless steel case.

The night skyin motion

At the centre of the Orion is a rotating Planisphere that recreates the apparent movement of the night sky. Stars and constellations move across the display according to the sidereal day rather than the familiar 24-hour solar day.

The silver dial provides a bright and refined frame around the deep blue celestial map, while blue indexes and hands connect the astronomical display to the rest of the watch.

The rotating Planisphere

The Orion’s Planisphere recreates the apparent movement of the night sky as seen from much of the northern hemisphere. Rather than following the 24-hour solar day, the map completes one rotation in 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.0916 seconds: the length of a sidereal day.

As the celestial map turns, stars and constellations move across the display in relation to the observer, creating a mechanical representation of the sky above. A Zodiac indication adds another astronomical reference to the rotating map.

The Orion after dark

Super-LumiNova gives the Orion’s celestial display a second character when the surrounding light fades. The stars and constellations of the Planisphere illuminate across the deep blue map, making the astronomical display itself more prominent in darkness.

Selected luminous details elsewhere on the dial support legibility, but the central star map remains the defining feature: a mechanical night sky that becomes most expressive when viewed after dark.

Made in theCVDK atelier

The CVDK atelier produces only a limited number of watches each year, allowing every watch to receive the attention its construction and finishing require. Each watch is assembled by hand, subjected to extensive quality testing and delivered in a dedicated CVDK presentation box with a three-year warranty on the movement and case.
