Astronomical Masterpiece - CKPT3344

CVDKPlanetarium Guilloché Black

The CVDK Planetarium brings six planetary orbits together within the world’s smallest mechanical Planetarium. Positioned at 6 o’clock, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn travel around the Sun in real time. This version combines the astronomical complication with a black guilloché dial, 40 mm stainless steel case and black ostrich foot leather strap.

A Solar Systemin miniature

At just a small part of the dial, the CVDK Planetarium recreates the movement of six planets around the Sun. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn each follow their own mechanical orbit, from Mercury’s 87.97-day cycle to Saturn’s 29.46-year journey.

The complication sits at 6 o’clock, allowing the wider dial to retain the functions of a traditional watch while presenting a complete heliocentric display in miniature.

The smallest mechanical Planetarium

Positioned at 6 o’clock, the CVDK Planetarium is the smallest mechanical Planetarium in the world. At its centre is the Sun, surrounded by Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, each completing its orbit according to its real astronomical period.

Mercury circles the Sun in 87.97 days, Venus in 224.70 days, Earth in 365.24 days and Mars in 686.98 days. Beyond them, Jupiter requires 11.86 years and Saturn 29.46 years to complete a single revolution. Six very different astronomical cycles are reduced into one compact mechanical display.

Made in theCVDK atelier

Every Christiaan van der Klaauw watch is made by hand and subjected to extensive quality testing in the atelier. Each watch is delivered in a CVDK presentation box and covered by a three-year warranty on the movement and case. Watches from the Collection of Astronomical Masterpieces are also supplied with a removable Swiss Kubik watch winder to keep the astronomical complication running accurately.
