CVDKPlanetarium Guilloché White

The CVDK Planetarium places the world’s smallest mechanical Planetarium at 6 o’clock, where Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn orbit the Sun according to their real astronomical cycles. In this interpretation, the complication is set against a white guilloché dial and housed in a 40 mm stainless steel case with a blue ostrich foot leather strap.

Six planets,one mechanical display

The CVDK Planetarium condenses six very different planetary cycles into a remarkably compact display. From Mercury’s comparatively rapid journey around the Sun to Saturn’s 29.46-year orbit, each planet follows its own mechanically calculated period.

Positioned at 6 o’clock, the Planetarium remains clearly separated from the main time and calendar indications, allowing the astronomical complication to become a distinct focal point within the dial.

The smallest mechanical Planetarium

The CVDK Planetarium at 6 o’clock is the smallest mechanical Planetarium in the world. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn circle the Sun in real time, each driven according to its individual astronomical period.

Mercury completes one orbit in 87.97 days, Venus in 224.70 days, Earth in 365.24 days and Mars in 686.98 days. Jupiter moves on a much longer 11.86-year cycle, while Saturn requires 29.46 years for a complete revolution. The result is a miniature mechanical model in which six planetary rhythms remain in continuous motion.

Made in theCVDK atelier

Every Christiaan van der Klaauw watch is made by hand and subjected to extensive quality testing in the atelier. Each watch is delivered in a CVDK presentation box and covered by a three-year warranty on the movement and case. Watches from the Collection of Astronomical Masterpieces are also supplied with a removable Swiss Kubik watch winder to keep the astronomical complication running accurately.
